Where in the world is (carmen) San Diego?

We drove into San Diego and headed straight for the San Diego Zoo. The zoo is 100 acres and is one of the most extensive in the world (it also has a sky tram that we rode). Our favorite animals were the pandas, the Orangutans, and the Cavendish (or Avonlea) Dink Dink's. After an afternoon of beautiful weather we went to the Gaslamp District. This is a section of downtown with dozens of restaurants along the sidewalk and lots of people hanging out. We were joined at Fred's Mexican Café, fantastic burritos by the way, by our friend Matthew Netterville. Matthew is a native of Nashville who has lived in San Diego for the last year. As a natural tour guide, we knew he would be the perfect person to ask to have a bonfire on the beach. We all gathered in La Jolla and added to our group was Mike Hilburn, Daley's brother and also a friend from Nashville. We had a fire in one of the beach pits and sat around and talked. It is a wonderful treat to be able to be near the intimate warmth of a fire, while at the same time experience the ocean with it's waves lazily lapping against the shore. The guys were enjoyable hosts and we loved getting to catch up with them. In the morning we went to Point Loma Nazarene University where I (Gretchen) went my freshman year of college. I got the chance to see the school and visit one of my professors, Dr. Anderson. I got a chance to feel old, remembering my college days there, so long ago.
