After that was concluded, we went into town to the visitors centre to see what we could do for the day, and they suggested a few things which sounded good. But first to the library to load the stuff up to the blog and do my emails - that took about ¾ hour.
After that we followed directions and went to see the Siphons. The Mulwala Irrigation Canal has been routed under the Edward River and the Alljoe Creek by using siphons - it flows right up to the river, then goes underground to emerge on the other side and continue flowing
As we were near to the Rice Mill, we decided to have another look, and blow me down, here was a train arriving. When it arrived at the gate of the mill, it dropped its wagons, and went on in to put together another train full, and pull them out. It then shunted the empty wagons into the plant, and finally picked up its train and departed. Now that sounds nice a quick, but I have to say that I was able to read the whole Herald Sun newspaper a couple of times whilst I waited for Ted to get the shots. Lunch was very late - 4pm, and just a snack to keep us going until I produced Teriyaki Noodles for dinner.
