Today we made a momentous decision - we are going to photograph interesting letterboxes - yes, I know it's been done before, but we will do it better - people will come from far and wide when our exclusive exhibition is unveiled - of course each of you will receive a person invitation. But perhaps first I should re-instate my brain - today I again forgot to take our lunch with us - damn! Holidays are meant to rest the brain but not to the extent that it stays in bed when I get up. But - back to the letter boxes - we have started with great gusto - our collection stands at one!!!!!
This morning we visited the Jindera Pioneer Museum - from the front it is an unimposing shop front in the little town of Jindera - pop 950. But inside it is a lovingly cared for collection of incredible history. Tuesday is the day upon which the volunteers all come in to clean, re-arrange and generally tidy up
After going back to the van for lunch (grrrrr!) we set off to circumnavigate the Hume Weir. Talking to Margo last night provided a hint to visit the old Tallangatta - and we did. A very interesting experience - there are still some signs of the old town, abandoned and moved to its current location in the 50s to accommodate the rising waters of the Hume Lake. I have to say that they could easily build the old town in its previous location now, due to the only 12% water level in the lake.
We arrived back at the van by cutting across from Bonegilla crossing the Murray just below the dam. We booked in here for another night. We'll go to Wagga on Thursday.

. Ted and I have visited many of these local museums, but we have to say that this one was a beauty - a real credit to the locals. We saw many things that we have not seen at other similar museums, but not only that, the care and attention with which everything is cared for, even down to the mowing of the outside lawns and gardens, was quite impressive. Congratulations to the volunteers of Jindera. After going back to the van for lunch (grrrrr!) we set off to circumnavigate the Hume Weir.
