After a marathon 16 hour Thai Airways flight from Bangkok, I landed at LAX airport late in the night of June 30th.

American travel restrictions are very strict and I had to get my baggage searched before catching a connecting flight to San Francisco. I was picked up at the airport by my good friend and former college roommate Keith T. Wong, and we made it to a fast food joint where I devoured a double cheeseburger (my first in several months). It felt very good to be back in the United States.

For the last few days I have crashed with Keith at his apartment at Stanford University. On July 1st, I spent much of the day recovering and appreciating the clean air (which is sharp contrast from Bangkok's dirty atmosphere) by taking a 7 mile run across the rolling hills of the California countryside.

This landscape is the same as the one that which inspired John Steinbeck, and the golden grass makes the ground glow with an aura of tranquility. For dinner, I was treated to Chicago-Style Pizza and we spent the night drinking, watching Top Gear and reminiscing about old times.

I had a long conversation with my parents before walking around the Stanford Campus. I took a few pictures of the immaculately clean lecture halls before taking a long afternoon nap. I helped Keith move some of his stuff to a new studio apartment and we caught a late showing of the movie snatch (which, it can be argued, is perhaps the most ignorant movie ever made).

In the morning we were both hungrier than normal, so we made a 5am run to Denny's and each had a grand slam breakfast...which was strong.

I am now on my way to Lake Tahoe to hike and camp away the independence day weekend. Keep reading and take care.
