I love fast cars...what a tom boy!!

Anyway, my time in Kuala Lumpur (KL) started at a hostel which smelled of mothballs and would make anyone mad after a day or two there. Not to mention that the fact that when the toilet flushed it emptied into the floor as did the basin. So I rapidly found somewhere else to stay as I needed to rest my foot which had been hurt back in December. The x ray in Melbourne showed no broken bones but tissue damage and the doctor told me to rest up - as if!

So I spent a few pounds more each night and moved to a 3 star hotel. Staff were very nice and the brekkie was so huge it meant I didn't need to eat until dinner time.

I spent most of my time going to the cinema, eating cupcakes and resting my foot. There are some lovely old colonial style buildings in KL. I didn't do any tours or go to anywhere else in Malaysia - I know what a terrible waste. I just seemed content to potter around and do nothing.

I did see an amazing exhibition called the Sultans of Science about inventors from Muslim countries in the 800 and 900's. Flying machines, medical advances, clocks and so on. We seem to have ignored these inventors and claimed them all for ourselves in Europe. I also saw "Art and Architecture" about Foster +Company. They had fantastic miniature models of their outstanding designs around the world. breathtaking.

Of course on the final weekend I had the Malaysian Grand Prix. Friday was practice day and you can go into the main start/finish grandstand if you wanted. Saturday was practice and then qualifying and then Sunday was the main race. Alonso crashed out at the start of the second lap and that was right in front of me. I am sure you will all be totally bored by the never ending photos. At times like these I wish I had a better camera. Of course that would mean lugging more stuff around.

There was some amazing thunder and lighting storms and at one point I could see lightning hitting the KL Tower from my bedroom window - wow to have been in there when it happened.

One thing was strange I never saw ANY dogs the whole time I was there. I saw one scraggy looking puppy and that was it......hmmmm.

And then I moved onto Thailand......but that is the next posting.
