The last couple of weeks have been crazy hectic for both Jess and I! But as surreal as it feels to be back on American roads we have made it to Santa Barbara in one piece.
It kind of feels like we've never left. Its a really strange experience. Bit sad Duke isn't with us this year.
However, this year we got upgraded for free again (I got pooed on by a bird the other day so that's why we got upgraded for free - the luck) but it took a bit of persuasion. After a long flight and a hell of a lot of pushing and shoving to get on the shuttle bus, we turned up at the car rental and just blabbered on to the rental guy, Bryan, that we are really stressed and need a nice car. He was then joined by his friend Luis and the pair of them invited us for drinks in Venice
We said we'd maybe meet them all for drinks but we just wanted to get out of LA! Sounds easy enough except the car doesn't use keys and its all about pressing buttons to start the engine. Something we needed a little getting use to but after a bit of help from Ismael (along with putting in all the good radio stations for us) we head off to a reasonably good start. A few wrong turns but nothing my handy navigation skills couldn't sort out!
We drove through Malibu and a bunch of other cool little coastal towns. It was just perfect because it was such a beautiful day and once the sun started setting against the Los Angeles haze it was just extremely beautiful and a lot to take in for our first day!
We eventually made it to Santa Barbara driving up State Street to get to our lil motel. Our plans were to head out for dinner and drinks but when we realised how far away our motel was and how expensive it was to get a taxi the tiredness kicked in and we decided it was wise to stay in and organise ourselves a bit.
One thing both of us have noticed and I had predicted is is the amount of good looking people we have seen. It's almost like a game of who can spot them first! Needless to say we are in heaven. Unlike last year when it was slim pickings!!!
Excited for tomorrow (today as I am writing) as we are heading to Monterey with a few exciting stops enroute such as a cool waterfall and Big Sur! Woop!
