Saw the famous Cadillac Ranch on the outskirts of Amarillo – 10 graffitied cars stood on end in the ground at the same angle. Pretty cool sight, made even more so by the bright blue sky and dusty/sandy land.

Stopped at the midpoint between Chicago and L.A. Attempted to have lunch at Midway Cafe but on our way in we discovered they didn't accept cards so on we travelled. Can not believe we’re halfway along already :o!

Crossed the Texas/New Mexico border (we decided to do so on the interstate rather than the old road, as its super dusty and gritty appearance was not appealing to Duke)

Lunch at Rockin Y’s Roadhouse where we failed on having a 'light’ lunch lol. We were a bit sceptical when we saw the ‘no concealed firearms allowed’ sign on the way in. However, we soon became desperate to see a gun! Haha. We got far too excited at one point only to discover a man had his pair of gardening shears in his holster instead?! VERY disappointing! Lol.

Stopped off at Blue Hole in Santa Rosa – an 86 foot deep hole with crystal clear water and a dark centre where it drops. The weather had got even hotter so I just wanted to jump in but Ness said it was only for snorkelers and scuba divers with diving permits... somehow i don’t think the 1year old with arm bands on had a diving permit but whatever Ness?! At 60F I was probably best out in the warm, plus a wet drive to the motel would have been interesting.

Visited Tinkertown – cute quirky museum with glass bottle walls, old style animated figurines and fortune telling machines which me and Ness of course had a go on. Though Ness didn’t have much luck with them and one definitely got it wrong when it concluded that her one quality was ‘jealousy’. Though it definitely knew what it was talking about on me... ‘expert on everything’ :D, despite Ness’ immediate reaction of 'B*ll*cks you're an expert on everything!'

Had dinner at Frontier Restaurant which was not what we expected... you had to queue and order your food like you do in a fast food place and then go up and collect it when your number was called, but it was proper restaurant food. It was really diner-like inside with red booths, low stools and shiny metal tables. The restaurant was on Central avenue (a massive street with restaurants and bars) which was pretty thriving and seemed like a cool place to go out but after food we headed back to the motel ready for Mounment Valley tomorrow :D eeee!!! Today’s drive was my absolute favourite so far! The roads and the surrounding landscape was just incredible! Even better than yesterday’s! We could just see barren but beautiful land and nothing else for miles around – no buildings or built up areas... M6 eat your heart out! The photos don’t do it justice. There were points where the road sloped up so much it was as if we were driving into the sky, which was the most beautiful blue ive ever seen! No words can describe how perfect today’s journey was! Too excited for tomorrows :D!
