We went a bought 3 day travel passes for the city transport with the help of two cheeky conductors! Very helpful and I was sooooo impressed by how cheap the pass was! (ask Jess, it's all I could talk about haha)
First sight we went to – Buckingham Fountain.....literally spent ages there just chillin and taking piccys! Jess was determined to get a photo of a North American school bus...plenty of opportunities but she failed at all of them..well done jess! Hehe We sat and gazed at Lake Michigan for so long – couldn’t believe how clean and blue it looked! Just so impressed.
Had a wander over to the Millennium Park and did the standard touristy piccy by the 'bean’ – or Cloud Gate to those who use its real name
Strolled through the city, it was so big and beautiful...neither of us could take it in...and Jess especially wouldn’t pipe down about it! Haha
Next and last stop was the Navy Pier. LOVED IT! We spent pretty much the whole afternoon and evening there..it was just the perfect setting for such a lovely day! We had a walk around but decided to go have lunch at Harry Carey’s Tavern which seems to be a popular spot for all the celebs, though we didn’t see any today...although the barman did look a bit like Orlando Bloom! Lol. Ordered some cheeky cocktails with lunch but the Orlando look-a-like thought we had been waiting too long (literally two mins) so he gave them all ‘on the house’ – not complaining! We sat outside for lunch and basically got a bit of a sunbathe in - it was that sunny and warm!
After lunch we strolled down the pier and got some amazing views of the city skyline. Just so amazing. We had a hilarious ride on the ferris wheel! Haha Jess realised her fear of heights....I must admit it was going SOOOOO fast...NOT! lol possibly the slowest moving object EVER! Haha...oh Jess...
Nearly wet ourselves (well Jess did...we all know what she’s like) in front of the crazy distortion mirrors! Probably had us laughing ridiculously for atleast 10 minutes...
With all the fun and giggles we couldn’t resist going back to Harry Carey’s Tavern and sat at the bar and had another cocktail! Soooo good! One of the barmen (rather good looking if I do say so) told us we were so giggly (is anyone really surprised?). We befriended one of the waiters (Rafael) who told us we could sit anywhere we wanted, the place was ours and decorated our dessert with a choccy heart! He was too sweet! Didn’t want to leave but thought it was best considering we still had to make our way through the city back to the hostel.
Such a great day!!!!
