Road Trip #1: Trier and Bonn
Entry 18 of 81 | show all | print this entry |
Trier and Bonn are two must see German towns.
Trier was beautiful, it's small and humble, with the touristy area enclosed in the middle for easy access to everything. I walked 3 out of 4 Roman Ruins cites in the city in about an hour-their maps were so easy to follow, with pictures and CORRECT street names. I saw a port (doorway), an ampitheater, and then what used to be a roman palace. I only shot two rolls of film, 36 exp., but I had tons of fun running through the underground tunnels of these sites :) they had low ceilings and small light passages. Yay!
Bonn is the smaller version of Cologne, with a more down-to-earth twist. Here I saw the Beethoven House where he was born with the royal ENGLISH audio tour, and then I enjoyed many great German foods. I had the best bratwurst with Kraut ever, and three different desserts-they looked and tasted great, but I couldn't tell you what they were called or what they actually were. OMG, I am going to get so fat.
I made it back to Cologne with enough time to shower, pack, and then go to bed-by 8:30 cause I was beat. I was woken up in the middle of the night by a very pleasant call from Tony, who brightened up my day immensely. It makes such a difference when people hint that they care about what I am doing. I also checked my email and received some sweet messages from Trish W., Michelle M., Alaina E., my finaid counselor, Stuart R., and Mommy-thanks guys!!!
Passed out early to prep for Nuremburg.
