A two hour bus ride back from Taganaga to Baranquilla ...half way home for us to Cartagena...today is lunch with Carmen...yippee!!!! We phoned her this morning and she gave us her mums address, which is the home she was born in half a century ago. A taxi ride from the bus station gets us there and we are greeted by the family and also Carmen's girlfriend Rosanna....Carmen's mum is very sweet greeting us into her home...Papa is having a sleep in a comfy chair on the back porch...I think he is in his nineties!!!

The home is lovely in colonial style. Carmen's sister Liliana and Rosanna are joining us for lunch and we all pile into Rosana'a car and off we go. They are all chatting ferverantly in Spanish discussing were they should take us...Carmen leaves it up to them as she is from out of town too...

A brilliant choice is made... La Agulia...a very old and now famous establishment that was in it's time a haunt to what was Colombian brat pack....artists, film makers and authors, including Gabrielle Marques Garcia a Nobel literary award winner and author of one of my favorite books...100 Years of Solitude...also some of you may recognize another of his novels that has been converted to film...Love in the Time of Cholera.

The restaurant is gorgeous and the food fantastic...the rooms are all filled with the artwork of the previous peeps from the 40-50's this was where they would all come and drink beer, smoke cigars and plan their futures before they had made it in their chosen artist genres. They also have a little cinema in the restaurant to show all from slides and photos of the olden times.

We had a great lunch with Carmen doing the translating between us all back and forth from Spanish to English....girls lunches the world round are the same...vino and giggles!!! :o) We did have to have a giggle when Lilly wanted Frey to only have a light beer as she thought Frey was younger than 20...nice one Freya...haha....lets just say she is definitely not 20!!!

Once lunch was finished we went back to their house and downloaded our photos and laid on one of the big beds repacked out bags and chatted it was fun afternoon and Carmen was a complete angel and agreed to take some of my stuff back to Cayman for me...my bag is over packed but now back to a reasonable level to cart around!!!

Frey and I said our goodbyes in the mid afternoon and then caught another mini bus back to our Hotel in Cartagena...Carmen arranged one that did door to door so that was much nicer for us!!! Thanks Carmen it was a special afternoon and a great treat for two backpakcers coming back from camping!!! *grin*

WE spent one night in Cartagena and then it was off again this time by boat to Playa Blanca...more hammock and beach camping!
