Day 20 - Bangkok
Entry 20 of 36 | show all | print this entry |
Today was a bit frustrating, we decided it would be a cheaper option to get the Cambodian Visa from the actual Embassy. The tour operators were charging about 1,000 baht each visa. But honeslty I would now recommend that people do that. As to start with the address of the Cambodian embassy had changed from the one given in the rough guide, although the people were very friendly at the old address and gave us a map to the new location (Now 518/4 Pracha Uthit Rd, SOI Ramkamhang 39, Wangthongla, bangkok 1031 tel: 029575851). However, as we had taken a taxi to the old address this had now disappeared so we needed more transport. We opted for a tuk-tuk. After a while even with the map it was clear he wasn't sure where he was going so we stopped him, feeling like we would never get to the Cambodian embassy. So we hailed a metered taxi and guess what it was just around the corner from where the tuk-tuk dropped us! Aaargh! It was quite straight forward when we got there though, you needed 1 passport photo, and duplicate copies of the form and your passport which was fine. Then after all that the charge was 1,100 Baht each for the express service, how frustrated we were! The whole process took 10 minutes. Ah well at least we now have our Cambodian Visa.
After all that stress we celebrated by allowing ourselves a McDonalds! Our first in ages!
