Well we are back in Stoke on Trent.  Is it good to be back here?  Not really but we had to come back as we have business to do here - financial etc.  We hope to move to Queensland so we've had to have medicals, blood tests, chest x rays etc.  All these take time even when you are paying for the tests.  Forms have to be filled in and people have to be seen.  Oh well lets hope it's worth it, but we are not guaranteed a visa even though we are British and Australia is still part of the Commonwealth.  They can turn us down if they so wish.

Spare time is spent doing our photos and videos from our travels - around 6,000 photos and loads of video clips too.  Nice to see our memories in colour again, and of course the people we met.  We also do some walking mainly along the canal, and into town to do our shopping.  We have no vehicle, so it's down to walking or on the bus.

Our migration agent can't put our application in until Helen has her permanent visa, and that hasn't come through yet.  So we've decided to go back to Africa.  That too has taken some time to organise as we are going by ourselves overland in a 4WD.  This time we'll be going to South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Swaziland (a return visit), and back to South Africa (another return visit).

We go on 28th June and can't wait to get back into the Southern Hemisphere.  We will be staying in a few National Parks - Etosha (Namibia), Victoria Falls (Zambia), North and South Luangwa (Zambia), Chobe, Okavango, Kalahari (all in Botswana), Kruger (S Africa), Hlane, Malalotja and Mlwane (Swaziland), and several reserves in all of the countries we're visiting.  Hopefully we'll have some even better wildlife photos with Neil's new SLR digital camera.

So as we said this time last year - watch this space!!

Greeting from OZ
Hi Chris and Neil
I can't beleive it's over 6 months since I was in Cairns. I have been catching up on your adventures and you must be in South Africa on your 'drive your own' adventure at the moment.

I really enjoyed meeting you both on the CVA 'Emms nature refuge' project. I hope our trees have survived the floods earlier this year!

It's been pretty full on being back at work, since I returned from my Queensland trip. It is very exciting to hear you are applying for visa in Australia, would love to catch up with you when you return and hear all about your Africa travels. If you are back in OZ before Feb next year and have time to vist the South, I could have room free if you would like to visit. If not will try to catch up with you in Cairns another time.

My daughter Emily is leaving for Canada in August for a student exchange at Vancouver Uni and will be away for 5 mths. We hope to catch up in Pukett in Feb 2010 on her way back home.

It's pretty cold and wet here, so keeping indoors much of the time. Keeping up my spirits thinking about Pukett.

I hope you are both well and your Africa trip is fantastic and going as planned.

Look forward to hearing your latest news.

Best wishes to you both for a safe and happy journey.
Love Ros
