We've had a fairly relaxed time here recently.  Done most of the lectures now and yes we've learnt quite a bit.  We've gone out on plenty of bushwalks and done more conservation work - brushpacking to stop erosion, digging sand to put on the roads etc.

Went to the local Reptile Park and I've included photos of our visit.  Neil & I were pleased that we remembered most of the identity  and first aid information.  Plus got a chance to handle a Burmese Python, Golden Baboon Spider etc.  It was a great afternoon out.

Suegnette had a medical appointment last Tuesday and asked Neil & I, Sue & Ray, if we'd like to go to Tsineen with her for a day out.  We agreed and drove there passing a goldmine and an emerald mine on the way.  Not much traffic on the roads and it turned out to be a very hot day, 38 degrees again!!  After visiting a shopping mall in Tsineen we then went to the Crocodile Farm at Agatha in the mountains.  Imagined this farm being in a valley with a river running through it.  Not to be, it was on top of the mountain, with stunning views (photos don't do it justice believe me), great gardens, and a guide who was a real entertainer giraffes at camp

.  We had a fabulous time, just the 5 of us.  Yes I held the year old crocodile too, but Neil didn't get to take the photo with my camera of me doing so.  He has loads of videos and photos taken, but far too many to put on the blog.  Suegnette then took us a drive around the lush green mountains and tea plantations, this area is so different from the lowveld where we are staying.

We only have 2 weeks left in South Africa, so as we've had most of the lectures and most of the bush walks are now being repeated the four of us 'oldies' have decided to hire a car during our last week.  We hope to visit Kruger National Park again, we only saw a very small amount of it last time, and to see what else is in the area.  That'll be for the next entry.

The rains are not due until the end of October but we would love them to come early so that we can see the difference it will make to the area.  Apparently it will feel like hell the 10 days before the rains arrive, temperatures in the 40's and no movement of air at all.
