The windiest bus station in the world!
Entry 111 of 119 | show all | print this entry |
We had loads time to kill this morning as our bus didnt leave till lunchtime so we wasted it away buying postcards and booking hostels for the next couple of places. We hate booking but it does make life a lot easier if u can just turn up somewhere, jump in a taxi and get straight there.... we are getting very lazy in our old ages!!!!!! At the bus station it was somewhat bizarre, there was only one bus there but noone was convinced it was the right one, even after handing our luggage we werent, just by the assumption that if we all sat down and no one wanted our seats we finally gathered that it was. Only then the retards wouldnt sit down, why is people cant just sit down and be done with it, why do they insist on moving around all over the place. It was half an hour before we finally got going!! Once on the road it was all pretty boring, i mean the scenary of the road in places is dramatic but the roads are boring nothingness, desert as well which again surprised us, we clearly are stupid and think the only desert is the sahara cos we keep being surprised by them. Just as we were getting going we pulled up in a small town that literally consisted of a hotel, restaurant and a gas station, apparently it was lunch time, but as usual without being told how long u got it was best to keep stuck on the bus! it was quite funny tho cos we were on the upper deck of the bus right at the front so could see everything and the wind was horrendous. Was so bad that one gal got blown off the step on the way back to the bus and her coffees went all over her, even she was in hysterics at how ridiculous it was! Wasnt long before we were back on the road and with only an hour to pass it went quite quickly. Only thing worth noting other than the continuing boring countryside was the hilarity of a motercyclist who was going at 2 mph trying very badly to keep in a straight line cos of the power of the wind. And a police checkpoint where the copper in the middle of the road kept missing the cars cos every time one appeared he was getting blown across the road by the wind. Finally made it to Rio Gallogas where we were catching a bus that evening to Puerto Madryn, the bus station was outta town so didnt venture further. I have to say tho the bottom of argentina is the windiest place i think i`ve been, its insane, why they bother with road signs etc i do not know cos they are just all blown everywhere. At one point we were sat on the bus watching a 7up can being picked up by the wind and bouncing along the road faster than the trafiic, it was mental and am sure a little dangerous! Anyway we had a few hours to kill but fortunately the bus station had a cafe restaurant, kind of............ By that i mean it had one, but the bus station was still being built so stuff only kinda worked....... so when i ordered coffee i couldnt have it cos there was no electricity but by the time the waitress came to change by order i could have tea cos it was back on. Anyway time was easily killed playing our new game and it wasnt long before we were back on a bus somewhere new.........
