Then had Macdonalds.......
Arrived in Dallas, just after our bags! Fortunately we were able to grab them before they disappered onto god knows where...bloody greyhound! Now we had to try and find somwehere to sleep! Could be fun since we had no transport and this is the US. The visitor centre was our saviour, they had internet where we managed to book a place that sounded good, no probs...now we just had to get there! Just up the road, got on a train...then a bus, then another bus, (where we wandered around aimlessly, accidentally wandering into the military part of the airport...noone seemed to care?)then the kind people from the hotel sent a bus to pick us up! Simple, we thought! The hotel was cool, nice room. Now after chilling we thought we should go and find some food...wrong. No food. Its seems this was the only area full of hotels which had no fast food, not even a macdonalds, and the people in the hotel laughed at us when we said we wanted to walk somewhere. Everything is miles they said! We found the Dennys they said was miles, wandered, got lost, then found our way back to Dennys. Wasn´t what we were looking for, but hey it was food, plus we hadn´t been in a dennys so it was another for our list! Had home cooked style food...meat and mash and veg (even if it did come out of a microwave!) (minging Neil says), then headed back to the hotel. Where we watched TV and went to bed!
Next day we decided to head into fort worth, to get a bit of cowboy action! Thought it would be simple to get there, but how wrong could we be! It involved a train, god knows how many buses and several hours of standing around! All in all it took about 4 hours to do 17miles! Bloody american public transport!!!! Still it was worth all the hassle, cos it was cool! Fort Worth itself wasn´t much, a few bars and restaurants and a useless tourist info. But Fort Worth Stockyards National Hostoric District was way cool! Cowboys mania! Shops selling everything cowboy, guys riding horses and cows down the street, old wooden animal pens and a way cool old train! Headed to the train station, which was full of little shops, it used to be where they sold the animals, and ended up eating barbeque beef brisket sandwiches..in a way cool cowboy bar. yee ha! We watched the foolish people trying to ride a bucking bronco, and checked out the old wooden maze, and even tok photos of the cow you could sit on! We sent a few postcards...and set oursleves up to watch the cattle drive!! That was way cool, just like they used to do it, with the cool cows with big horns!!! They were disappointingly well behaved though! Checked out the museum and the old horse pens, where there were loads of horses and cows from the show, and also for the Rodeo they have in the evening (which we couldn´t go to, boo hoo, cause it was too late!) Then it was time to leave!! I love cowboys i do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back in fort worth we decided to splash out as it was our last day in the USA, so went to chillis and had a slap up meal of steak and chicken and beer...pumpkin beer! Were very cheeky and just walked into Marriot to use there internet and printer...no one said a word!!!! Then it was a long trek back to the hotel, to pack up to leave tomorrow...Mexico here we come...
