So we actually now had those few days spare i´d been teasing ames with meaning she got to go to florida. Not that far into the state but enough to get white sandy beaches. First tho we had a long drive through 4 states not helped by the unknown fact that it was a public holiday. We took it slowly having coffee in a book store, then trying out chik fil a, a recomendation of Elizabeths. Finally got to Florida in the mid afternoon but had to drive a way before finding the campsites. The first was fully booked but apparently there was another one an hour away, so i put my foot down. We got there later than i hoped but they had some sites so we were sorted. Not much beach time left tho so we decided to stay for two nights. We parked the car and made the short walk to the beach. We´d never seen white beaches before and they were beautiful. The sand was just like sugar between your toes. We watched the sun go down and played with the little fishes on the shore. I even saw a ray, could´ve been a stingray! We then sorted some food from walmart some 18 miles away and had sweet and sour chicken outta tin with a cool campfire.
The next day we took it slow. Not really gettin up to early and then having a huge bowl of baked beans with lots of toast. When we got to the beach it was practically deserted so ames sat down to read her book and i went for a swim. Was fun swiming with the fishes and the water was so warm. We could see dolphins not far from the shore and there was a huge jelly fish in the shallow water. Ames wanted to chill and read so i went for a short walk. when i got back tho she´d been attacked by dog flies. I´d noticed then nip but not as much as i was walking. We decided to walk to uptown grayton beach and try and get something cool to drink. It was a pleasent walk and we eventually got to the town. Was a cute ramshackle place with a bar and several curiosity shops. Nowhere was open for a drink tho so we wandered up to the highway where we knew there was a starbucks. We had a couple of ice cold frappachinos to cool off as it was extremely hot. We then walked back along the beach to the campsite where we went for a drive to find internet. On the way back we stopped at the lakes edge where we had hot dogs watching the pelicans and other birds. Were nearly outta gas and not sure it would make tea so went lookin for some with no luck. Got an ice lolly and headed back to the beach. Managed to persuade ames to go in the sea.... she was scared cos of all the nasties. We were having fun playing as the sun came down as everyone ran down the beach warning of a shark. Not sure it really was but didnt reckon it was worth hanging round to make sure. We headed back to the car to discover the stupid thing had turned its autolights on. Fortunately it started and we head off to gt some tea. We wewre having jambalaya with spam and peas. Was yummy and we oce again had a decent fire before hittin the sack!
