A day of driving, which for some reason was kinda fun, guess its cause the scenery was so cool and cause we didn´t have to hit the interstate for once. We drove through loads of amazingly huge cotton plantations, where we watched them collecting, and cutting the cotton plants with there tractors, saw hundreds of bales of cotton sitting in the fields, even passed several trucks, dropping cotton on the road as they drove by. It was an amazing site, the road were pretty cool too, just single lanes, with small ditches seperating us from the cotton fields.
Decided to stop at Clarkesville, having read it our guide book. Turned out to be an interesting place to say the least. Driving in we could see cars parked everywhere, so thinking it was a market or something going on, we checked it out, turned out to be a funeral! It was spooky and deathly quiet, and we felt very much out of place being the only white people! We hastily left, and went into downtown instead, where we were in for even more of a shock. we suddenly felt like we had been transported to mexico city! The buildings were all boarded up and run down, but were clearly still operating. There were huge deserted car parks, and only a few kids hanging out in the streets. It was the strangest place and not at all what you expect of the richest nation in the world! It was like a place the USA forgot!
After our culture shock we carried on driving stopping at the interstate to get food. There was the usual array of places to eat, but Neil had his heart set on Taco Bell, so after our intial disappointment of finding it boarded up and closed, we found another one! A bit of advice for anyone stupid enough to try Taco Bell....don´t do it!!!! It is mexican style food, but wierd and not at all very good! Still it was food.

Back on the road as far as Jqackson, where we again had to find somewhere to stay. Wasn´t looking good for campsites, all closed or RV sites, was looking like we were going to have to overspend, when we finally found a state park just outside the dwntown. It had camping, so problem sorted! We pitched our tent, next to the toilets, which also seemed to be functioning as a skateboard park! We ate lasagne out of a packet and drunk JD illegally!!!!! (shhh don´t tell the ranger)
