Today was the day Amy had been waiting for the whole trip!! Her chance to go to the home of Jack Daniels..... Lynchberg, Tennessee. Wherever that was, we stil didnt really know when we set off that morning, even after three hours driving when we stopped for coffee at murfreesboro we still didnt know. Though somehow we found ourselves in Moore County and the wee town of Lynchberg. Was like going back in time.... a whole town full of old shops and outlets all devoted to one Jack Daniels!! We decided to check out the free brewery tours and return to the town later. When we got to the building it was a huge hall where we registereed for the tour and then after a short while we were taken into a room to watch a film about the precious liquer!!!! Then the fun began...... we got a bus to the starting point. Right in the heart of the area they produced the charcoal, turns out there is a reason why amy only likes JD and thats cos all other bourbons bar one are made differently. Then it was onto the spring, was a cave where all the water for all the JD ever came from. After that a brief look at the old office buildings including the safe that had killed Jack himself. we then got taken around the actually distillery.... spelt the fumes of the liquer bubbling with its newly added yeast and then got wafts of the pure 140 proof spirit. It so wouldnt be allowed in the UK. Turned out we couldnt try any tho as Moore County has been dry for a hundred years and its against the law.

Then it was back to Lynchberg. We'd got a voucher so we had to spend to get a free shotglass. Amy finally decided on a cool cap and was promptly rewarded tho goodness how we'll get it home! There was some pretty cool merchandise tho.... a pool table, poker table, instruments, even a really cool JD themed Juke box.

Then it was off to Nashville and the motel we had decided to stay at....Drakes Inn! Was a really old one but supposeably it had been in a few films and stars had stayed there once a million years ago! Then it was off into town and the perdicament of having to park. was made worse cos there was a hockey game on so all the parking was expensive. But hey it wasnt my car so parked on some dodgy carpark where u screwed your note up and pushed it through the slot. Then it was into the town, was very busy and all the bars and cafes were packed with fans gettin there pre game drinks in. The bars all had artists playing country music, it was belting out into the street and with all the neon lights gave the street some cool atmosphere!

We needed food so started looking. We hadnt eaten all day so were lookin for something substancial but not expensive, but all the places in the main street were serving snack food so we head off elsewhere. After wandering for ages we found a cool little steakhouse where u could get sirloin and a spaghetti dish (one of my fav combos) for only 10 bucks. Was amazing food, even came with salad and bread and ames was dead happy cos the first steak in the usa was a long time coming!!!

With our bellies full we set off to find some beer and music. Not really into country but managed to find a bar belting out rock so sat in their and had a beer before retiring back to the relative luxery of our motel room!
