Daylight arrived...and we decided it was time to see what was really on this penninsula!

After breaky, headed towards Provincetown. Stopped at the visitors centre, not because we had become obsessed with them, but because they had an observation tower which sounded fun! Drove past lots of sand dunes, pretty white sand, then got cool views of the coast from the tower. It really is a pretty coastline, can understand why JFK demanded it be a national park.

Then tried to go to the end of the penninsual, only to deiscover you needed a park pass, to go any further. Weren't going to pay $20 for the priveledge, so headed to Provincetown. Checked out the dyke they built there first, then wandered. The place was still cool, but was nicer by night. Checked out a few shops, spending far too long in the fun puzzle shop! Then it was time to move on, lots more to explore yet.

Decided that Truro wasn't worth seeing, so headed for the Marconi memorial, despite the fact that it was in the national park. Thought we would get stopped, but no-one questioned us at all. Saw the point where marconi sent his first cross-atlantic telegraph. A plaque and model of his station were all that was there,as the original buildings have been washed away in the sea! Will have to go check out the corresponding place in Cornwall now! (when we can afford another holiday that is!)

Visited the beach were the Pilgrims first landed and met the native americans. Was a very pretty little beach, quiet too...could have imagined that first encounter, but for the huge carpark built there!!!

Then decided to drive along the bottom coast, was hoping to get a glimpse of the infamous Marthas Vineyard, but we never found it! Its were all the rich people go, so they must have hidden it from us mere mortals. The road was cool, it was like a slice of old America. The best bit being the A&W we found for lunch! I had been dying to go to an A&W in canada, but never did, so when we saw this one, it had to be done. Turns out im glad we did, cause it was old style! Like a diner from the 70's, where they took your order on bits of paper, the food was cooked fresh, the staff were friendly and the decor was just way out man! I had to have a coney dog! What else? (just in case you are wondering that is a hotdog, with chilli piled on it!), Neil had curly fries with chilli and cheese. Passed on the root beer - the thing to drink - cause its minging!!!!!

Our bellies full, we drove on, problem was we discovered we were not on the road we wanted to be on, and our map being pants, we thought we would have to go back to get to it. Hit rush hour, or school finishing time, it must have been the latter, as the big yellow school buses were everywhere! (They are so funny, with theie little fold out stop signs and children getting off the bus to be picked up by their parents in cars at every road junction!)

Needed a break, so headed to Dunkin Donuts. Our first time! Apparantly New Englanders run off Donuts, so it had to be done, were naughty and enjoyed coffee and sticky doughnuts!!

Finally got on the road we wanted only to discover we could have gone 2cm up the road hours ago and been in the same place. Oh well!

Drove on nearly all the way to Plymouth, looking for campsite. guess what, we didn't find any! Were beginning to get worried, when we spotted one. Looked a little strange, but were getting to the point where, we couldn't be choosy. Only problem was there was no-one in the office and a sign read, pitch your tent and we will come round later. No prices though! Didn't know what to do, we are not very good at making decisions, not sure if you had worked that out yet! So we drove on, since we needed to find a shop to stock up on beer. Found a shop in Plymouth, but no more campsites, so once we had chosen our beer had to head back to the afore mentioned site.

Found a spot and cooked our tea, no-one came round for our money, and it had gone dark. Thought we might get away with not paying! Were praying if we didn't it wasn't going to cost us a small fortune for a bit of grass. Sat in the car drinking beer and playing cards, was too cold outside! Went to bed happy. Cape Cod was cool, a bit of a strange place, but still fun.
