A bit of trivia for you? Where is the real Freeport?? I didn't know it was in Maine either, but we found it...and it is just like the one in Fleetwood...a shopping village! This one was built curtesy of LL Bean (a very commercial camping outlet), and has loads of cool shops like 'Horny Toad' and a whole shop dedicated to mooses! Plus the usual brand name stuff! Had to check it out simply because we needed camping gas (honestly - cause as if we can afford to shop right now!!)

After our window shopping we hit the main road through Maine...along the coast...this was the point i decided i liked Maine. The road was way cool...lined with shops and cafes and little businesses. Selling everything imaginable from kites and jigsaws...to galleries and shops selling 'tat'. These junk shops were everywhere...and they were clearly proud of them! They looked like something off a council estate in deepest darkest Manchester! It was all so much fun though...and off the the right the whole way were little pennisulas jutting into the sea. It was beautiful and i decided it would be cool to live there...so for the rest of the journey we came up with cool ideas on how we could live in Maine!

Just as it was lunchtime and we wanted to eat the places ran out! Typical! The last place that had looked cool was heaving, with nowhere to park, so pressed on thinking there would be loads more places...but no. Eventually...at the point where our stomaches were screaming in agony!! We found a little restaurant by the side of the road...we checked it out and it looked fun....so we were naughty and went fo a seafood lunch!!! You got to do it...its a maine thing. We had a platter of fried seafood! The local speciality (well apart form the lobster - which we definately can't afford!). Fried haddock, clams, scallops and maine shrimps. mmmmm! We were stuffed...and we shared a plate designed for one!

Back on the road...to find arcadia national park! Wasn't too much further. Had to get our national park passes first...then we went to find the campsite. It was another cool national park one...quiet and pretty. We went off to explore the scenic drive...excpet Neil dcided at this point we had no petrol so had to go hunting miles for that first. Managed to do a little of the drive before it went dark...including a cool drive up a mountian, when Neil took the wrong turn!

Back at camp...was all set up for a fun evening of sitting round the campfire...we just managed to cook tea...but then it rained! Had to sit in the car again! Neil was in a mood this time (because he was poorly he says - personally i think he just ate too much!). Played cards then went to bed early! Bit of shame that the day ended that way....but glad i came to Maine - its cool!
