We headed out of Vancouver along the Trans canada highway once we managed to find it, took a little getting used to the car, plus they never signpost anything in the cities out here. Drove for a bit before deciding we'd stop for coffee and to plan our route. Oh and to buy some sunglasses as i'd stupidly left mine at grannies and couldnt see where i was driving as it was so damn bright. Stopped off in a place called guildford and wandered into the shopping center, turned out guildford was right next to surrey, how sereal........
After coffee we drove..... was great to be out and about, really seeing canada...... the roads were lined with tree covered mountains, headed off the main highway onto the crowsnest highway, very similar scenery but full of twisty windy roads. Stopped off in a garage just outside a small town where we had a mini picnic of soda and potato chips overlooking a logging camp..... We then headed into town to pick up some groceries. Was a small little town with one street of really run down shops and the grocery store but had everything you could want.
The weather as we approached the Okanagen was extremely hot, we were glad of the air conditioning!!!! Around six-ish we reached penticton and started looking for a campsite, none really appealed as we in town but eventually decide on one on the hill in a tiny town called kaledon. Had views of the lake so wasnt too bad. We had our supper of pasta and our favourite Hunts Italian sauce before hitting the sack. It had been a long day and 400 kilometers was a long way to drive having not driven any distance for a couple of months....... More thumbnails ...
