Today was the very last day...a day of farewells and finales!

The morning events consisted of clearing away, packing up and counting everything down to the last bloody fork! We tried to eat all the food that was left on the bus, resulting in a very interesting breakfast! Then we waited till all the fools trekking down the canyon on the second day had returned alive and well!

Finally around lunchtime, we headed down the shop for last minute souvenirs and ice cream, and the task of getting a card signed for our drivers and collecting their humongous tip from all of us! (This caused no ended of arguemnts and sulking, but i won't go into detail!)

Then it was off on the long trip back to San Francisco.

We drove and we drove and we drove. We were finally allowed out of the bus for an hour on historic route 66, at the wierdest burger joint ever! The place was apparantly steeped in history, and oh so funny!!! They had old cars in the parking lot, hilarious signs everywhere and the staff well if they couldn't make you giggle - no one could!

The thing to have was a root beer malt shake...sounded wierd to me, so i had a root beer and neil had a chocolate malt shake (which was kinda the same thing, right?). We also ordered a hotdog, now would you believe it could take 45 minutes to make a hotdog? Well trust me at the Snowcap burger joint it can!!!!!!!!! Probably something to do with the fact that they were too busy playing practical jokes to actually make the food. The best one was probably when people asked for water, they asked if toilet water was okay, and proceeded to pour a cup of water from a tap looking like a toilet!!!! When we had finally munched our lovely hotdogs and drunk our distgusting root beer, it was back to the bus.....

We drove and drove and drove. And man was it hot.

Finally we got to Las Vegas - woo hoo. Got off the bus to cool down a little - er yeah right! Have you ever been to Vegas in summer!! Hot is not the word. Anyway after much discussion and far too long standing in the heat, oh yeah and group photos - when we finally got round to not fogetting anyone out of the photo, we decided to go our own way in order that we could see as much of Las Vegas as possible. Got to be better than losing a fortune right?

So off we went, checked out Excalibur first. Not much there, except for the cool dinner and show which including live jousting! Then it was out into the heat across the road to New York, New York. This one was really cool and really looked like New York streets, with cool delis and bars. We had a soda! Then Neil decided it would be a good idea to walk to Treasure Island to see the show there, now we could have got a taxi with some of the others, but no walking in 100 degree heat is far more sensible/ So off we went, walk, sweat, walk seeat! Saw some cool casinos on the way, Finally got there just in time, hot and tired and hit the crowds. There was sudddenly a wall of people! Gave up trying to get nearer and watched the pirate show, had some amazing pirotechnics. Then it was a nice stroll back down the strip to Excalibur and our awaiting last night drive.

Checked out Paris casino. seriosuly cool, literally as well in the attractive sense. Had a replica eiffel tower. The watched the amazing fountain display at Bellagio to music. I tell you hat its no wonder they are running out of water in Vegas, its everywhere! Then we checked out the Venetion casino with its real gondolas and grand canal and amazing painted ceiling. Decided we should eat something, so forced ourselves to eat yummy chinese in a food court (food courts are so amazing here!). Then back to the bus, where we got sad that some of our mates had already left....boo hoo!

Oh yeah forgot to mention, that we had a flutter, we spent a whole $10!!!!!!!!! Disn't win though! (I do believe some of the guys did win, and Neil has vowed that we will return and he will win by playing the tables....we will see!!)
