Well welcome to day 22...... No i aint that sad... amys doing the counting not me

Today began just like every other day..... a ridiculous song at some ridiculous hour, only this time we were in the desert, and we were gonna see the most amazing sunrise in the world ever.... well we would have if it hadnt been cloudy, only that hadnt occurred to Jimmy had it!!!!!!!

So there we were awake at 5am to watch the clouds.... well after a few hours cloud watching we had an amazing breakfast of mexican style scrammy egg whilst we waited for it to get stupidly hot. You see we only like walking when its 100 degrees plus cos otherwise its way to easy!!!

So by ten we were out walking in the desert looking for arches...and we looked and looked cos there werent any... well thats a wee lie cos there were a couple and there were ok..... but not amazing!!!! Oh and Amy winched.... not cos the arches were rubbish but cos she had a cold.....and her legs hurt...... and an eagle ate her nose..... well maybe not the later.......(can i just say i enjoyed hike through the desert actually...but well it was a bloody desert and it was bloody hot).....(can i just say MY ARSE!!!!! and anyway this is my blog ....)

What was amazing was what happened next.... we went to a big little town called Moab and it just happened to be 200 degrees outside..... thats wot i reckon anyway..... it was scorching!!!!!

So wot do you do on a scorching hot day........ Thats right you guessed it.... all crowd onto a bus, turn the air conditioning off and wait for the thunderstorm...... Why the waiting.... well obviously thunderstorms are best watched when swimming in lovely refreshing cold lakes???????

Oh and i must add its only a vicious rumour that i got my arse out in the middle of a field..... it never really happened.... well theres no photos he he!!!!!

(I will carry on, as Neil is off to do his chores...)

After our refreshing dip we all piled back on the stupidly hot bus...and were dripping with sweat instantly. We drove to our campsite, checking out some cool...and actually ancient for once...american indian writing on a wall by the sideof the wall...lots of pretty pictures of animals and alien invasions...then drove to the wierdest campsite ever!

The campsite was very picturesque, by the river...next to the mountains...and right along side the road...it looked more like a lay-by than a campsite...still we were used to the whole anything will do dude attitude by now!

Tried to cook a fantastic sounding meal...of hotdogs...corn on the cob...and fries...except suddenly out of nowhere...came a tornado!! Everything suddenly blew away strsight towards the river, including all the mattresses off the bus, all the tents and everyones clothes which were out to dry! We all chased them across the campsite, Jimmy and Adrian ready to dive in the river to rescue the mattresses, but fortunatley we managed to save the day and catch everything! Only problem was the wind meant there was no way we could cook fries, as the wind was creating small fires on the stove! We managed to heat the sausages which were soon demolished...even the veggies ones, which were actually nicer than the alleged meat ones, and eat some salad, if you could get it to your mouth before it blew away!!!!! At some point in the night the corn cobs actually cooked too - they were yummy, The fries however, went in the bin! You can't win them all i guess!

After the wind finally died down, we lit a fire and our group sat around drinking, the others went to bed - god only knows why!!! Sarah, Adrian and Jimmy had a food fight while clearing away the kitchen. They ended up with beans everywhere, god knows what it was all about! Water was also being thrown about all over the show, and we ended the night by harshing Adrian's mellow by putting marshmellows in his water!!!!! Somehow he didn't see the funny side and went to bed!!! Ooops!

The next day....a nothingness day...even if it did have an amazing 'wow' moment!!!!

Woke up to a slight problem - we had no water!!! Despite the fact that we were camping right next to a river, we had nothing we could actully drink! I think the fact that various water fights had been taking place the night before may have had something to do with it!!!!!!!!! So no breakfast for us, and a quick exit to find the nearest watering hole - which happened to be back in Moab!

Spent hours filling up all our water containers, then we hiked to the other side of town, in 600 degree heat to get ourselves some money, except being the dumb arses that we are, when we arrived back at the bus we noticed the bank just across the road!! Still i love hiking when its really hot...!! Spent ages in the supermarket...in the lovely air-conditoning....while our drivers bought us masses of lovely food....mainly fruit and veg though i might add!!!!!!

Oh god back on the bus....melt....winge....drip....sweat. Finally arrived at recapture reservoir....we were all desperate for anyway to cool off at this point. It must have been at least a 100 degrees on the bus, our driver said he had never had it so hot, and he has been doing this for ever! Had great fun splashing in water, and trying to get out again....as bottom was like a bog!!! Was funny watching everyone get in though...very cautiosly due to the cold water...and slowly sinking!!!!

After lunch Jimmy had a brainwave that it would be fun to go to the colorado river and play in the mud!!!???

Now personally i can't see the fun in covering yourself in stinky dirty mud....and it was stinky....but it seems the others could! They all had fun (yeah whatever) sliding and diving in the mud....i just sat back and took photos of them all making fools of themselves!!!! I then sat and melted while they all took hours getting the mud from every nuck and cranny of their boddies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight was suppposed to our mystery campsite night. But the weather started to deteriorate rapidly. Thunderstorms began to mass....and Jimmy was too scared to take us into apparantly the coolest campsite in the world ever! Cos apparantly if it had rained we would have been trapped by a newly formed river. We old him we didn't mind spending 2 days building a bridge to get us out, but he was having none of it!

So we drove off to make tea and sit out the weather!!

Turned out the place we were going to sit out the weather was anything but boring....it turned out to be one of those amazing 'wow' moments! We drove out into the middle of nowhere, to a place called goosenecks. We happended to be sat at the front and nearly had heart attacks when jimmy stopped inches from what looked like the end of the earth!! Honestly, there was a huge drop below us! When we got out of the bus...when we had finally recovered from the shock! We saw the most amazing view below us. The San Juan river meandered at the bottom of a huge canyon. But the best bit was that the rock kinda went down in layers all the way from the height we were stood to the canyon floor, and the twists and turns the river took created an almost alien landscape. It another of those moments that is impossible to discribe....one you just gotta be there for!!!!!

Made mexican food....not as good without the tofu....but still managed to eat loads.

The weather was getting worse....storms were now circling the high ground we were camping on! Everyone spent hours trying to take photos of the lightening....which was seriously cool....don't think anyone managed it!

Jimmy finally decided we were staying here for the night! Quite a scary prospect camping on the edge of a huge drop in the middle of a thunderstorm! But hey its what the green tortoise is all about!

Jimmy got scared and all responsible and firstly drove the bus to the middle of the carpark in case it got stuck by lightening! and made us all camp away from the edge....how boring!!!!!!!!!

Started raining so we went to bed.....
