We were now at the half way stage of our trip, we were glad to loose mavis and his kids but were sad to say goodbye to others. Was kinda scary that we were getting 20 new people to continue our adventures with.
After being rudely awoken by Neil and Torsten having a pillow fight and me somehow being in the middle of it all, we arrived in Vegas to pick up the new guys before heading for Circus Circus for a buffet breakfast. mmm yummy..... meat glorious meat...but hang on what is meat again???? Had an all you can eat breakfast for only $10. Couldn:t actually manage much meat....but hey tasted good all the same! After stuffing oursleves silly, we watched the stupid people amongst our group lose money on the slots! Man you wouldn:t believe how many people were gambling at that time of the morning....many of whom looked like they had been there all night!! They actually pump oxygen into the casinos to keep people awake...bet you didn:t know that did you!?
Back on the bus....oh god its so crowded...you can:t breath now there are so many people!!! Plus 20 more people makes it like a bloody sauna! All the new people are boring they just wanna sleep...suppose they have an excuse having just spent all night on the town in Las Vegas.
Drove to Zion national park, for another big hike. I seemed to be in a bad mood...can:t seem to think why....hangon could it be the 2000 degrees it seemed to be on the bus???
Just wanted to find somwhere to cool off, so when we arrived in Zion and the option was a big uphill hike at midday or a swim in the river, i opted for...guess what the swim. Neil wanted tohike, so i sulked at being left on my own.
While Neil and Torsten ran up Angels landings ridiculously steep trail i enjoyed the cool and refreshing river, then sat on a lovely breezy free shuttle through zion canyon! We sat at the bottom of Angels landing, splashing in the river and waved to the other fools hiking to the top! Neil and the others returned, triumphant that they had made the top, butoh so very smelly!!!!
The valley is really beautiful...huge red rocks and green valleys everywhere...whether you are at the bottom being a lazy arse, or at the top sweating like a pig, and risking your life on precarious ledges!!!!
Had skillet vegetarian lasagne for tea...and yes of course salad...what green tortoise meal would be complete without bloody salad!
Couldn:t have a campfire (or even a cigarette) at site because of risk of forest fires...so put a bitof downer on things...meant we couldn:t have the group bonding session with the new guys that had been planned!! Went off to a rangers talk...but unless you were 3 years old...was pretty damn pants!! Did discover i could have a cigarette though, which cheered me up no end...even if i did have to stand in the middle of the car park to have it!
Back at camp sat up drinking with Marg and Adrian. Had to laugh,(sorry Marg) when Marg decided she needed to find a tree for a pee, and fell over the fire pit!!!! Im sure it hurt (you should have the seen the war wounds the next day) but it was so funny!!! Thanks Marg for making us laugh!!
Slept in our tent, which was hung from the tress like a hammock...its so fun being resourceful...the river by the tent did make me want to pee all night though!
