Oh what a pants day!
Well no i guess it was interesting in a boring kinda way! But then that is Utah for you!
Did you all know that Utah is a mormon state? Which means that you can't do anything apart from be good!
We arrived at Salt Lake City very early, and i watched the sun rise over the lake, probaly the highlight of the day! Ate breakfast in a car park by the stinky, minging (sorry sarah) lake. Jimmy had planned for us all to have a dip in the lake, but no way was anyone going near that lake! Smelly just doesn't describe it!
Headed into mormonville....did the whole mormon tour thing...for about five seconds...but after hearing the religious thing far too many times in a short space of time....decided the restrooms were more inviting! Neil found it all fascinating...i just didn't get it...watch out people Neil could be turning Mormon before you know it!
Drove for ages, and were staving so stopped at the first place we found....Nephi...pronounced Kneefi! Jimmy noticed on the way through that they were having a rodeo and got very excited. So we stopped all piled out in the blazing heat and went to investigate the rodeo thing...turned out it wasn't happening for about another 6 hours, despite the people all having put their chairs along the street for ready for the event of the century! Still got to wander around the garage sales and wierd stall selling tatt. Oh yeah and eat free pizza and soda from the phone shop????? Yes a phone shop giving away free food...still it was rodeo day! Hsving not consumed enough free pizza we headed to $5 pizza, where a 12ince pizza was 45....well no actually nothing is what they say it is here...you always have to add some shrapnel for the tax....!
It was an interesting experience to say the least...seemed almost third world as Neil keeps putting it...it sure is a simple life!
Found yet abother swimming hole...this one was quite cool...in both senses of the word!
Played frisbee with mad Jimmy. He then tried to drown Neil and lost his glasses in the middle of the lake...which we somehow managed to find...must have been divine intervention or something like that!
Back in the hippy green bus....we were drove to some hippy hot springs. Jimmy had a mate who owned a place, which happended to have hot springs in the back garden!
Was seriously cool dude....way out man....totally marshed my mellow! Hot srpings were too hot so cooked food first...in the hippy car park, next to the hippy old buses...and hippy lamas and donkeys. Ate hippy food....veggies and tofu chinese style....mmmm totally awesome dude. (Mavis and his god-damned kids, wouldn't eat the food, wouldn't even try the damned stuff...cause it was real food...and proceeded to eat all our next weeks ration of cereal!)
Checked out the hippy shop with its hand made tie dye stuff and wierd stuff...sang happy birthday to Sarah, hen finally got to hit the hot srpings.
How cool is it to sit in a bath tub in the middle of nowhere...with baturally hot water in it...water that never gets any colder. Man i could live there! They actually have bath tubs too....how cool dude!!!
After our chilled out eveningand free showers (even if they were half built) ....it was back to a now very clean bus for more night driving. Except we decided it would be more fun to drink lots after all it was sarahs birthday, were having a great time drinking tequila, until jimmy so boringly reminded us that we were in boring country and had to all be boring...and stop drinking. We even had to had the evidence that any drinking had been going on....who would live in Utah?????????
