3 July - 6 July: Paragliding paranoia in UK.

All my thoughts and actions were directed at ensuring that I make the most of my time in Europe as far as paragliding is concerned. It seems as if the paragliding Gods were testing my will to learn and master the sport. Scurrying from one website to another, alternating between the messy dial up connection that Aditya had and making phonecalls across the UK didn't leave me with even a smidgeon of a chance to get any meaningful flying done. With my lead in Wales off on a flying tour of his own, Sussex providing only 500 foot hills, and the rest of UK being inaccessible due to the budget, I decided to go to France for Jocky Sanderson's XC clinic. In spite of Jocky being kind enough to extend me a discount, the 6 hour walk to the French consulate and back, only resulted in dismay since it would take me 8 weeks to get the visa - not being a resident of the UK! What a mess these visas. Disappointed but not completely demoralized, I renewed my efforts to ensure that I was in touch with the right folks in South America so as to maximize my airtime. Also made a few calls to friends only to realize that none of them live in London but on the outskirts - I could now clearly see me outskirting my budget by a fair margin!
