Neuchatel, Switzerland 2008
Left Zermatt on the 8:39 am train to Neuchatel. Transfer in Visp, Lausanne and then on to Neuchatel. I leave for London on Tuesday morning from Geneva, so I wanted someplace near Geneva, as I having been there, that would get me to the airport by 9:00 am for my 11:15 flight to London Gatwick. Neuchatel is on Lake Neuchatel, a beautiful lake, the largest within the Swiss borders. Lake Geneva is larger, but is bordered by France to the south.
Arrived in Neuchatel, had to take a funicular down from the station to the lake. Found the hotel and checked in to find the hotel had no AC and it was hot. At least the windows opened wide and I could get a little breeze. Internet access so I did some blog work and then wandered the town. This is in French speaking Switzerland, vs German speaking in the Alps. The town had a very French flavor to it and had a nice old town for wandering. Had a beer and went to the lake to check out the boat schedules, but nothing worked this late in the afternoon. Back to the room to relax before dinner.
Dinner was good, out on a square, schnitzel and fries. Sat on the square after for a beer, people were out and socializing until the went down around 10:00 pm. Back to the room to ready for my flight tomorrow to London.
Always hate to leave to leave Switzerland, but back in September with Charlie and Chris for a quick trip to Lauterbrunnen.
