We arrived in Dublin 12 hours after we were supposed to cause the airport had been closed most of the day due to a freak snow storm, which the media promptly named "the big freeze". We got to Edinburgh airport at 6:30am, our 8:30am flight was delayed by 2 hours and then cancelled, our 6:30pm flight was delayed by 1 hour but we eventually made it after 6 hours waiting at various boarding gates and 7 hours enjoying free wireless in one of the airport cafes, great way to spend the day! So we got to Dublin at about 9:30, checked into our hostel and then had a walk around the snow covered streets (via dinner at mcdonalds, it was a very healthy day!) the next day we walked around the city some more, did a spot of shopping then went to the movies cause the whole city was slushy and dripping! We ended up bumping into one of the girls from our tour who had exactly the same weather proof idea! Then we went out to the university campus where shankari (my ex-housemate) let us into my old apartment, fortunately someone had left all the rooms unlocked to we had a few nights free accommodation until the new people arrived! On Sunday we had a very exciting day in the laundry and on a campus tour then went into temple bar after dinner with shankari and her boy friend. On tuesday we were booked to go on a half day tour but there weren't enough people so we had a walk around trinity college, lunch in a pub and then did the free city walking tour. We met shankari and matt at the Guinness store house and did the tour which included a free pint of Guinness in their super-bar at the top of the factory!
