actually this post is not all that interesting truth be told. we arrived in Cambodia after a event less flight from kuala lumpur. i am now so officially tired of airports and flying i can do without either for a long time. i think the grand total was something like 10 or 11 flights in 3 weeks. My sister was funny because she insisted on going all of these places and spending no real time anywhere because she wanted to "see it all" but in so doing i think she didn't see much at all. when you are always on the run and never spend more then one or two nights in one place you don't really see that place and don't get a feel for it. this was an exact recipe for how i DON'T like to travel but this wasn't my vacation so what can i do?
i was actually really looking forward to going to Angkor Wat (temple complex in Cambodia) and it was going to be one of the high lights of the trip for me but unfortunately i became very sick with a chest cold. i definitely did not feel up to traipsing around the ruins in the hot sun so i literally spent the two days in Cambodia confined to the room. The low light of this time was when i began coughing and actually almost choked to death on my own phlegm. i went about 15-20 second without any air and i was beginning to panic when i was finally able to clear the "obstruction". i was seriously freaked out about this afterwords and when my sister returned from the ruins i told her about my run in with death and all she said was "make sure you cover your mouth when you cough, i don't want to get sick on my vacation" as you can tell she is deeply concerned about my well being.
The highlight of Cambodia was that luckily, i was well enough to go get some dinner with my sister and we found a place that served $1 margaritas. pretty decent quality too so this was a plus. I really do wish i was able to go see the temples but it was not meant to be on this trip so after two days we were on the early morning bus across Cambodia to Thailand. about 2 hours into this trip i very suddenly started to feel nauseas. the sick feeling built up and up and up until all of the sudden my vision got all goofy and i passed out. first time in my life I've ever passed out and i don't even know how long i was out for because no one noticed since i had the bus seat to myself. very weird and disconcerting. all in all i was sick for about 4 days and it was not much fun at all but what can you do? its not always roses out here right?
