Ok so here I am. I suppose it seems that I have fallen off the face off the earth since the last time everyone has heard from me I was just leaving Alaska almost two months ago. I dont really have much of an excuse for being so quiet as of late other then not having much to say and just kind of zoning out in my own little world over here.  Things have not exactly gone perfectly over here with a few minor glitches in life. I think I had been back in Thailand for a week when i threw my back out something horrible and could not get out of bed for about 4 days. I then dragged and limped my way into a recommended thai massage place and experienced the most painful 2 hours of my life....but i walked out of there with about 95% of the pain gone which was amazing and well worth the 2 hours of torture.  In the same week I lost my ATM card so my monetary funds have been kind of limited do to a lack of availability.....none of this is a big deal individually but little things add up to be kind of a downer and I have to say I was a bit depressed for awhile over here but as always I have rallied and am up and running once again.

Ive been working for planet scuba for the last month or so and its kind of falling back into the same routine.  We had an international school from hong kong come and do a bunch of courses with us for the last week.  The kids werent that bad (age group 14-16) but it was a lot more work then my usual load. the only real pay off was the fact that on the last day we had the priviledge to swim with a whale shark.  for those of you who do not dive you have to understand that this is the holy grail of diving.....the two questions a diver will ask is "how is the visibility today?" and "any chance of a whale shark?".  Whale sharks are the biggest fish in the world and although this one was just a baby (14-16 feet long) it was still just so peacefully amazing to have this behemouth circling us for 45 minutes, just as curious about us as we were about it.  It was definitely one of those moments that stop and realize how lucky you are to experience such things.  the kids from the international school were broken up into 2 groups...morning and afternoon.  in the morning we saw the whale shark for about 10 minutes and were amazed. I had 3 kids to look after and they listened to my briefing and were very responsible...staying close to me and not getting too close the whale shark.  they stayed at the proper depth and stayed very calm which is impressive considering it was a couple of 14year olds who just got certified the day before.  In the afternoon I was given the chore of taking down the 5 teachers who were diving.  unbelievably the whale shark was still there (its rare for them to stick around very long) but this time at the first sight of the whale shark my divers all lost their training and shot off in every direction trying to get a better view.  leave it to the adults to be the worst behaved of the bunch right?

So im still on ko tao but I am leaving in about a week to go toa new island for some new diving.  we will see how it works out but im definitely up for something new...ive been on ko tao for a long time and im a bit bored of it, even if it is tropical paradise.  i'll keep you all in the loop and let you know how the new digs work out.

I would like to take this moment to offically endorse Obama for president of the U.S. .  I know many of you were holding out to see which way my opinion would sway and I appreciate your patience.  All i have to say is that if mccain wins this thing i am going to renounce my citizenship because i cant handle 4 more years of asinine bullshit.  GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those are amazing photos. You certainly are lucky to have such an awesome job.

But yes, I know exactly how you feel when you say that all these little things add up to make a bad time. Only thing to do is to keep going.
