so lets seeeeeee....leg still broken and in a cast. decided to just throw caution to the wind and went hiking on a 6 mile trail today anyway. went up to glacier lake which from the name u can figure that there is a glacier really close by. they are enormous things really and i was really astonished by the size and scope of the damn thing. the lake was cool becuase it had little icebergs floating around in it. the leg held up well for most of the way had a little trouble with the muddy sections of the trail and such but i survived. another unexpected side effect of being close to a glacier is that its about 20 degree colder then when you started hiking towards it. very strange indeed but it makes sense. engorged myself on wild blueberries that were growing along the trail....very tasty but where there are berries the bears are usually close by....eat and walk baby eat and walk. on the way back we got caught up in the middle of a pod of killer whales that were hunting salmon...they were very very close to the boat and it was great.... a bunch of mothers and their calves. overall its been a great day and i only have 39 left before its time to pack up my stuff and get back out on the road. im tired of working 6 days a week and 10 hours a day. the reward in the end will be worth it but its killing me right now. im looking forward to getting back out into the world but at the same time i already know its going to be a bit lonely out there. it'd be nice to be doing this with a friend or girl friend but unfortunately all of my acquaintances have proven less then able to breakaway from their lives....at the most i will hear "i wish i could do that" another 100 times. people are so indoctrinated into the rat race that they believe that to be their only option. that the great quest for the bigger house or the less fuel efficient car is something noble and great. im not knocking the "normal" way of life hey to each their own for sure but i knock the people who long for something else but cant find the chutzpah within themselves to pack a bag and say goodbye for a year or two. "go boldly in the direction of your dreams" right? well i may get lost along the way but boldly i will go
