so the shit hit the fan and the fan got real messy...

nige's immune system attacked his nervous system and we both learned a lot about guillian barre and miller fischer. We both learned a lot more about friendship and family.

from the deteriorated, unconcious state of a 50:50 chance of making it through the next 2 days to the miraculous and cheered return dragging a drip and sheeding a tear in the intensive care unit took 4 weeks and a lot more out of all concerned.

the help and the names will not be forgot....from clinca caribe to santa fe.....from the air ambulance to the parque virrey and the first walk of freedom from the hotel, from intensive care to buisness class in a month. From the voice of mum on the phone to calls from insurance setting us free.

and of course glyn and his generocity and self reflection and the silver linning and the getting blasted on occassion! hence the 4 taxis to get back to the hotel....and the jersey brigade allying to support pamps- mum

doctor meza in barranquilla...maria everywhere hence the call from the embassy, hilde in bogota and of course where would we have been without dr ossuna and the others...the physicalist and the pulmonarist charting the change in changing statments. the therapists......aaah all those therapists.....carlos and carolina especially...and the nurses and the security people even and the families of the other patients....

then there was the calls, the emails and the presents from home, andrew and lucy and dave and sandra and chrissie and erin and paul and alan semple....from speechless pete to the speeding ambulance, from badger and simon nat from the ever expanding circle of world wide concern more and from cambodia to australia, from canada to germany, from brighton to loughor and llantrisant the support and the concern and indeed the love and the prayers crossed the ocean through the ether and dragged us back from the brink.....either that or eddie and dave would have come out!!

and for me the sheer horror and arrogance of essie-s message and the ensuing support from dave and latter andy and amanda...that was a bloody big and hateful box that burst open.

there were bed baths and set backs . There was intubation and extubation and unconsiousness. There was an ongoing attack and an imminenet collapse and there was talking the whole bloody thing through. There was breaking the news, especially to mrs pamps.wth that logic and care....there was spreading the load and separating the girls....there was informing the family and the battle to heal in all its gories

there was the twitching body calming when i spoke

there was that bloody endless flight to bogota and the bagging.

there were the machines and the heart rate and the wire and the irregular rythem..here was oxygen and its rate and cleaning the plegm out. There were panic attacks and small small first steps steps. Traechiochtomies and talking again, eating again, shitting again and sitting up again.......there were bed pans and pains, halucinations and discomfort nappies and cream and pyjamas and drips.

there was maria and a new life and the old cancer and the last 2 intense week

there was nige and glyn talking through the night

there was semi intensive care!!!

there were steps forward and infected steps backwards with pneumonia

there were sedatives and weighings in the night

there were guard dogs at the door and eventually there was some sleep.

there was learning to communicate first with guesses then with alphabets. there was too much fear and pain and isolation and there was work to be done. There were bedside hours and waking up in the morning.

there were the insurance people and the support at critica times and especially the medical information and second opinion.

and study group was always there to support

then there was the solicitor and the house exchange and the division of property and lucy's understanding.....then the paper work for the managing director back from the dead.

..there are memories.

and there is the memory of sitting in the sleeping plane over the atlantic and relaxing
