Flying out to Vegas to visit mom and my brother.  I thought I gave myself plenty of time by booking a 7 pm flight out of BWI with a connection through Minneapolis.  Well, I was running behind in conducting my pre-trip errands and my last minute packing.  It did not help that the Notre Dame - Pitt game was being played today.  I watched the first half of the game and it appeared that the Irish have the game well in hand leading 17-3.  Leaving for BWI (hour drive) at 5 pm, I knew I was pushing it...hopefully there will not be too many people at the airport.

Getting to the airport at 6, I decided to pay the extra $6/day to park in the Express parking lot...I don't want to spend my precious time waiting in the Long Term lot for the shuttle.  Unfortunately the Express lot was full.  Instead I selected the Daily lot ($10/day) over the Long Term ($8/day).  For the extra two bucks you get a covered parking spot; plus BWI employs a system which tells you where the open spots are located, so you do not waste your time cruising the different garage levels.

At the Delta check-in kiosk, the machine informed me that my flight was not operated by Delta.  In my rush to leave I forgot to bring the print out of my itinerary.  The person behind the counter directed me to the NorthWest ticket counter...I forgot they recently merged.  Note of warning when booking with Delta...if you get a flight operated by NorthWest, you will get charged $10 per checked bag.  I did not have any checked bags but several of my fellow passengers were complaining because they expected to be flying with Delta, which do not charge for checked bags.  I can not remember the last time I flew on NorthWest, so I was not surprised when they charged for meals;  however I was taken back when they did not even give you any peanuts/crackers/pretzels.  Also, I was not happy that there was no audio program on either of the flights.

I spend the first leg in suspense wondering what was the final outcome of the ND-Pitt game.  I was keeping track of the game at BWI and knew that the game went into overtime.  Notre Dame had the ball with fourth and four to go in the fourth overtime period when I had to turn off my cellphone in the plane.  When I landed in Minneapolis, I found out the Irish lost 36-33 because they missed the field goal attempt.  This has not been my day...when I arrive in Vegas, I will bypass any gambling for the day and go directly to my brother's apartment.
