Lazy day...I woke up early around 6am before either my brother and mother.  As a matter of fact, Bill slept through the afternoon.  My mom and I went to the Sam's town casino at the corner of Nellis and Flamingo (my mom's place of work).  We had lunch at the newly opened TGIF in the casino on her player's points.  In a little role reversal, mom ordered the Key West Shrimp which came with broccoli.  She did not want any broccoli so I ate it all.  I definitely would not have foreseen this when I was a kid.  After lunch, my mom claimed the $40 in free play she earned during October.  It was funny...she was playing a 25 cent Double Double machine, which Bill have repeatedly told her not to play.  Bill has taught her to play Deuces Wild and has preached that she should stick to only that machine because if played correctly it has a slight player's advantage.  Now I am not as well versed in Video Poker strategy as Bill or mom...but there were some plays that I had to correct her on.  She ended up cashing out $33 for the $40 free play.

I checked into Caesars Palace for my comp-ed two night stay Center of Temple Pool
Center of Temple Pool
.  I have never stayed there before, so it will be an adventure.  To make things easier, mom gave me her car for the entire stay.  I am some what familiar with the streets of Sin City; probably more familiar than my mom, who only drives to places on Nellis Blvd and will not venture to the main strip without Bill driving her.  I had no problems finding the Caesar's self-parking garage; however walking  to the hotel was a different story.  There was construction along the walkway to the casino and there were no signs directing the people to the casino.  Once in the hotel, I had to walk through the entire casino floor to get to the hotel registration and then walk through half the casino to get to my room in the Palace Tower.  The room was nice especially the spacious bathroom with a shower stall, jacuzzi and separate toilet closet.  I did not draw a room with a view of the Strip, but you can't have everything.

The Palace Tower elevators stops across from the casino outdoor pool.  Since I had some time, I decided to explore the pool area, which is divided into several sections.  The main pool, Temple pool had a bronze statue of Caesar in the center which waders could walk up to.  On the right another section, Neptune Pool, had statues of griffins guarding the sun worshipers.  Finally, there was the Venus Pool, which is the "European" style pool.  For obvious reasons, access to that pool was restricted.  In my exploration, I found a little garden used for wedding ceremonies with statues of Venus.  One note...with all the construction that has occurred I think the sun bathers would have a problem getting any sun since the pool area seems to get a shadow of one of the towers surrounding it at any time of the day except noon.
