I had a connection out of Houston.  I always pick the window seat so I can stare and watch the world go by. During the flight to Vegas we flew over some territory that I recently visited (see Business Boondoggle).  On the flight path was El Paso and Las Cruces.  I could see in the distance, the White Sands dune field...it was amazing how huge this field is.  Also, I was able to spot the Organ mountains.  I picked the correct side of the plane to sit on (right) because I was able to see the Grand Canyon as we flew by.  I do not care how many times I have seen it during a flight;  I am still mesmerized by the natural beauty of the Grand Canyon.  One of these days I plan on going to see it close-up.  The final sight was Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam, which I was barely able to see because we flew directly over it.  I had to crane my neck and look backwards after we passed it.
