My flight out of BWI was at 5:40 in the morning, so I decided to stay up all night. It was not that hard to stay awake because the previous two nights I worked the midnight shift (10 pm to 6 am). Also with the Olympics going on I had something exciting to watch. It was a great night for USA volleyball with Dalhausser and Rogers winning the gold medal match 23-21, 17-21 and 15-4. During the time-outs I would quickly pack my tote bag for the upcoming trip to Vegas. It was amazing during the third set how many blocks Dalhausser had on the Brazilians...just as amazing that the Brazilians continued to swing away instead of popping the balls over the block. Fittingly, the match ended with Dalhausser roofing Fabio for the final point.

Next the US mens indoor team played Russia in the semifinals. I did not expect the team to make it this far. I think the tragedy that befell their coach's family has motivated the team to do well. It was an exciting match with the US coming from behind in the first two sets to win both. They almost cameback on the third set before falling short 25-27. The US was not in contention for the fourth set and started to look a little shaky missing serves and getting aced by the Russian serves. They got it together to win the final set 15-13...whew. Next match will be against a really good Brazilian team on Sunday. GO USA!!!

I was starting to get a little worried about making the flight because I had to watch the USA-Russia match to its conclusion. The game finished around 3 and I still had to drive myself to BWI. I made it with 20 minutes to spare...whew.
