We had a great time at festival sur le niger in Segou, a town around 3 hours east of Bamako. The setting on the banks on the river Niger was really stunning and we enjoyed lots of live music and dancing from loads of different groups. The locals go mental at different parts of a song, and jump up dancing, especially the women, they really love to dance! see the pics.
We stayed with a local family in Segou which was really good fun, if a bit stressful at times! They were so welcoming and really kind to us, including getting us buckets of hot water for our showers and feeding us. But the culture here is to be with you all the time, I think they probably think its rude if they are not.....where as I would prefer to be able to get dressed in my room in private!! But it was only 3 days, so it was cool and we got stuck into a few beers for the first time in ages.....we need to dry out again now!
