wow..yah..well, like the title suggests I've been spending a lot of time in the city center of Doetinchem the past couple of days. On Sunday, per the advice of Peter's parents, Mike & I went downtown to see a festival of choirs. 20 different choirs sang on 7 different stages located around the city. A lot of the songs were American songs... classic rock or country, etc. There was even a (what I though was) very obscure song that is song in Calvin's chapels that we heard sung ("we are marching marching we are marching oh...", also sung in other languages). It was nice to just see all the festivities and all of the people around. Typically on Sunday there will be no one downtown as the shops are not open, but 1 Sunday a month they open up the shops and have festivities such as this.
Then on Monday night it was back to downtown to watch Holland play Italy in the Euro cup
I should start getting ready for bed now... I've got work in the morning...

Dutch Euro cup pride 1
. The Euro cup is HUGE here... like March madness but even more intense, and the whole country is very patriotic. The Euro cup only occurs once every 4 years, so it is a pretty big deal. For those of you that don't know Holland beat Italy last night, which is great because Italy is the reigning champion of the Euro cup right now, so maybe we have a shot at winning! Well, Mike & I went downtown on Monday night to watch that game. There were tons of people downtown, and they had the game playing on a big screen outside, so we sat in patio chairs and watched the game, it was a lot of fun. And of course, when Holland won there was lots of excitement which also included some amateur firework shows.I should start getting ready for bed now... I've got work in the morning...
