Before taking the bus to the North Pier to walk to the train station, we visited Coral Island one more time in the vain hope that the ghost train would finally be open... they'd told us it would be open Friday for sure. It wasn't. We asked around and several surly employees who didn't seem to know anything about any part of Coral Island more than 5 feet away from where they were standing said they either didn't know or they thought it would open at 11:00
The rest of the day was spent riding buses and trains to reach Plymouth. Our final destination was Boscastle, home of the Museum of Witchcraft, but it was hard to get to, and Plymouth was as far as we got before the buses stopped running. Our experience was pretty much limited to walking through the center of town on our way to a street full of hostels and bed and breakfasts, but it seemed like a pleasant college town, and reminded me of Boulder a little. After shopping around a bit we decided on a fairly nice B&B- it even had a decent shower and, for the first time since we left the USA, towels! The only problem was our room was up 6 flights of stairs and the wireless connection didn't reach that high, so we had to do our blogging and whatnot down in the dining room, which closed down around 10:00... we were forced to do the last 15 minutes or so of our picture uploading awkwardly perched on the stairs between the first and second floor.
Meanwhile, back in time, we had a pleasant dinner in a nearby pub that evening. We were in a cozy basement area across from an old hippie-looking couple who were all lovey-dovey with each other, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a chicken roast and Glennica had the death chili, which was fiery red and full of whole peppers. Shamefully, we both forgot to take a picture of it, so you'll have to settle for a picture of the menu. :(
