Trace spoke up a few times during the presentation. Unfortunately Joel had to leave (with luggage in tow) about halfway through. Very cool to be so close to everyone in person! Wonder why Frank was not there?
They brought up Keith Olbermann and how he had a cheesy 70's porn mustache when he was one of the first journalists to review MST3K in 1990.
Kevin came prepared with some artifacts from the early days of the show and read out some early fan mail
There was nothing compelling afterward, so I decided to go back to the dealer's room at the Marriott. We had been kicked out at 7pm the previous day, so I wanted to make sure that I had not missed anything. I ended up browsing through a large clothing booth, and I picked out an elaborately beaded, Inara-type wrap. But it was not the perfect thing, and the beading seemed very delicate. It was catching on my bag just trying it on.
I kept looking, and I found the perfect top - purple of course. It has the same corset-type look that was so popular with the women at the con, but it is made of relatively stretchy fabric and is much more comfortable than a real corset (of which Sierra bought two).
I also went back to the booth which had the led blinking light headdresses and got the last one that they had in purple, and I purchased a black lacy parasol which I hope will be great at the Renfest, but was just a pain to carry around at the con due to the constant crush of people.
Thus equipped, I returned to the hotel and woke Sierra so that we could get all gussied up for the rest of the day. See attached photo for us in our outfits and matching headgear! We were asked for photos the rest of the day, mostly because people liked those lighted purple hair falls. I received many requests for where to find them
We attended yet another MST panel, but unfortunately that meant that we were too late to get in line for the Futurama voice actors panel. The queue already stretched around the outside of the hotel and had been cut off to new people by the time we got there. I was very bummed out!
Sierra and I split with Nate and attended the Pirates and Time Travelers Ball. I so wish that we had brought the camera! There was a dead-on Barf from Spaceballs, really awesome tall zombie, and many others that would have been great to get photos of. The parrot holding a pirate was there, and we had met him on the street earlier, so I am posting the photo of him.
With Sierra's help I approached and talked to a dreamy Tesla Ranger, and I hung out with him the rest of the night, but somehow we never really connected. I sure wish that I had gotten his pic though!
