We have wheels at last... the last 4 or 5 days have seen us transform Roxy (a big red Iveco high roof van that has been sitting unused on a beach for 2 years) from a rusty, dusty, storage container to a mobile palace ... We went with Olga last Saturday to a car boot sale and got rid of a lot of the furniture and stuff.. then spent the next few days converting an old wardrobe into a huge bed and storage area for surfboards backpacks and stuff.. A couple of hours reinforcing security... some power, lighting and speakers in the back and she is looking very comfortable and is rearing to go....Its been quite a spectacle parked outside Olga´s apartment building (in front of a very busy lottery shop) with a lead dangling from the fourth floor to power the drill... we only had a drill, hammer and a dodgy handsaw.. needless to say everyone that walked past would have a nosy at the two gypsies building their home on the street... there certainly are some characters here...we got to know a lot of the locals by the individual noises they made and the times they would come for their daily lottery flutter! one guy sounded just like scooby doo with mad cow disease singing out to his mates as he came zooming into the street on his scooter and could be heard 3 blocks away.. he took a bit of a shine to Nat standing at the back of the van as we were working staring at her and making the scooby noises as she wielded her magic with the trusty saw... thankfully we now have curtains.... thanks olga!.... now if we can just sort the insurance out....been doing the complete run around for three whole days and it still isnt over!! Anyway, big ,big thanks to Saskia and Olga for sorting out the roadworthy and repairs... hopefully we will make it all the way to France and Sas can move straight in...if all goes to plan then we will be on the road by 5 this afternoon and on our way west to Audrey´s (great aunt) place at Benalmadena!

Had a great night last night with the family who live across the hall from Olga. Manolo gave us a book of detailed maps of Spain and Portugal and helped us plot our course along the coast. Mercedes prepared some delicious Spanish food accompanied by a variety of yummy vino! Mercedes jnr had fun taking lots of pics with our camera and Cristina (who is about 2) happily babbled away to us in Spanish (about our level too!)

Been having some great afternoon walks here in Velez. It doesnt get dark until 9pm and it is really quite pretty around sunset. Thousands of pretty swallows swoop and dive mostly around old churches (they must live in the roof or something) and there are lots of winding cobbled streets leading to forts, lookouts and churches. Anyway, best be off to make some more phonecalls and deal with more beauracratic nonsense! Hasta luego.
