Described as a legendary backpacker hangout we couldn't help but stop in and check this place out. Probably a bit soft of us given we only have a week in China and will only take in 3 places of interest but hey, when we can get some nice food and wine who's to argue?!
Yangshou is a great, laid-back place to explore the surrounding villages in the nearby countryside. We hired (ladies) bikes and pedaled through rice fields which are situated amidst splendid green-topped limestone peaks which was certainly one of our favourite memories of our trip thus far. As adults you forget just how much fun riding push-bikes can be.
Other than riding pushy's around we simply wandered the streets for a few days practicing our very bad Mandarin on the local restaurant and cafe staff, who gladly kept us talking English

. Our lacklustre efforts must've been torturous to them.We can certainly see why this place is labeled as a legendary backpacker hangout. If you've been in China for sometime this place would be the perfect remedy to the traveling in China malady.
