Greetings from Kolkata (Calcutta as she was once known).
Well after a week down and about in Darjeeling we took our frozen butts back down the mountain into the relative warmth of Kolkata to try and find the black hole. To say it (the city)wasn't what we were expecting is an understatement.
I guess when anyone thinks of Kolkata they think; City of Joy, Mother Teresa, Slums and Lepers. Well it ain't like that no more apart from plenty of guys slashing and dumping in public that is. But then again, that's everywhere in India.
We found it to be a vibrant and thriving city riding the wave of I.T and industry driven prosperity like much of the rest of the country. Old mixes with the new and no matter where you find yourself there's always something interesting to see. Be it the Raj era Victoria Monument or Eden Gardens Cricket Ground it's simply a great place to walk around (or hobble in my case).
And that's that.
Next Pod - Pondicherry, India.
Love,
Nath and Kat.
