Greetings from Kathmandu.

After a week trekking we were most relieved when we made it to Kathmandu. It's my second time here and another place that I was really looking forward to seeing again as was Kat.

You see Kathmandu is like a backpacking wonderland and after 7.5 months on the road we really needed some western home comforts, in particular things like Pizza, Steak, Wine and Tuna Sanwhiches with bakery fresh bread. You name it you can eat it in Kathmandu and we did our best to eat our way through the place.

Anyways, apart from the obvious distractions there is some serious sightseeing in Kathmandu to accomplish. From Durbar Square to the Monkey Temple you can waste a few days just losing yourself in this wonderful city.

There are temples, shrines and scupltures hidden away in the most unlikely of places. You can really appreciate Kathmandu's museum like quality when you come across a 1000 year old statue - something that would be a prized possession in many western museums - being used as a washing line or plaything.

All in all a top spot for all and sundry and a great place to wind down after the rigours of the last few months and the trek up to Annapurna Base Camp.

Nath and Kat.
