Just a quick one.

On our way from Chitral to Gilgit we had to spend the night in a small town called Mastuj before continuing on to Gilgit via the Shandu Pass. We did nothing in Mastuj except eat and sleep before catching the bus onwards so no use dwelling on that particular place.

The onward trip however is quite the eyeful with plenty to see in an amazingly changeable landscape. The highlight has to be the Shandu Pass itself and the Polo Ground it contains. The playing field is believed to be the highest on earth and is the home to the Gilgit vs' Chitral Polo Championship played each year in May/June.

The pass and polo ground sit at 3600 metres and the view at the time we were there was truly spectacular if not freezing cold.

So that's the Shandu Pass in a nutshell.

Next Pod, Karimabad - Pakistan.

Love,

Nath and Kat.
