Right now Nat and I are sitting in a lobby of a bed and breakfast type hotel, waiting for someone – anyone – to appear. We arrived by bus about 20 minutes ago, took a bizarre lift to access the hotel's reception and there’s ... nobody here. There is beer and cola sitting in the tall fridge, the plants look freshly watered and the door out to the patio with the view of all of Prague is open. There’s just no one here. This is one of those things I can’t see happening back in North America. We’re going with it for now. Nat’s walking around doing her videotaping, I brought out the laptop to check the wifi connection and write this.
Comforting thought from Natalie: "I feel like I’m in one of those movies where everyone is dead or a zombie and you can just walk into places and be the only survivors/non-infected people there
I’ve left the hotel and gone to the buzzer outside to ring it. Natalie says she heard it ringing behind the locked wooden doors marked “Receptce". Then we tried to find a phone number to call. Then realized we’d have to use a phone from here to call this number.
A lovely hotel worker has just appeared and seems committed to resolving our problem. She’s made a phone call to a higher-up.
Her phone just rang, it was an obnoxious ringtone. Nat is now on the phone with the manager of the hotel. We’re going to our room!
