Flew in from San Antonio to Phoenix. Cactus's everywhere and mountains surrounding the huge city in the distance, crazy how quickly the scenery changes in this country. Every state i is so different to the last, the people, the scenery, the atmosphere and the culture!
Spent two night in Phoenix spent the first day we spent car shopping bought a van from a used car dealership run by Mexicans, we had to get on the phone to his "friend who could speak English" to ask questions about the car. Then we organized all the rego, plates, emission test etc.
We drove to Piestewa Peak just out of downtown Phoenix. The lonely planet review said a beginners peak so totally underestimated it and showed up in jeans and vans but if i had of known i would be hiking up a rock face for almost 2 hours up i probably would have worn some more comfortable and supportive clothes
On the way home we thought we were pretty deserving of a good feed. Visited Scottsdale just out of Phoenix famous for it's old fashioned building much like a country western kind of cowboy town. We at at the Sugar bowel, famous for their deserts :). Had a burger, tried a traditional soda float (soda water ice cream and chocolate sauce) Kind of like a milkshake but fizzy! Dominated massive banana split. Very satisfied and refueled for a big day of driving up to Sedona the next day.
