After an early train from Rome to Naples we arrived at our hotel around 11am, to find a weird guy with a gremlin like voice on the reception, despite this our hotel was actually really nice and even had a balcony. We didnīt spend much time there however as we jumped straight back onto a train to go to Pompeii. The ruins left behind at Pompeii when Vesuvio erupted, covering the area, in 79AD are amazing. You could tell it was a wealthy resort town from the temples, shops and massive houses that have been found. There are also the casts left of bodies that were covered by lava. Most of the mosaics and frescos are in the Museum in Naples but there are some originals in the Villa dei Mistri which are beautiful. After a couple of hours looking around POmpeii Rall had had enough and we got back on the train to head somewhere different. We went to Sorrento, which is a resort town on the Amalfi Coast that overlooks the Bay of Naples. It was really nice and had massive houses on the cliff edges that were beautiful. After sunset we headed back to Naples and went to a restaurant that had been recommended. Once again we had pizza, but it was definatly some of the best pizza so far.
