Sorry i have't written in a while, its been hard to get to a computer, so im going to do a few entries at once!
After a very short flight from Penang we arrived in Kuala Lumpur on the 6th of November and after the hour long drive we arrived at our hotel. Not quite as nice as Penang but still an okay place if you overlook the fact that the phone didn't work, i had to ask for clean sheets (probably just my own germ issues), and the remote control for the TV didn't work (a big problem for Ral!). Our hotel was in the Golden Triangle, a fairly good area and it was getting a bit late in the afternoon so we headed to the Menara Tower for a look before the sun went down. It is the 4th highest telecommunications tower in the world and has an awesome view over KL from the 276 meter high viewing deck. It started raining pretty heavy and after looking around there for a while we had some dinner and headed back through the markets to our hotel. Ral gave his bargaining skills a workout and got me 5 handbags and got himself a hug from the guy selling them.
The next day we left early for the Batu Caves, about 13kms outside of KL. From the outside they are pretty impressive. They are three caves the biggest one being a Hindu Shrine that you can only get to by walking up the 272 steps, a shame because it was stupidly hot! There is a massive statue at the front and alot of little wild monkeys trying to steal whatever you are eating. Inside however i didn't think they were that impressive (especially the biggest cave), the smaller one had some nice statues and reliefs and wall painting though. We headed back into the city and stopped by the Murderka Square (main square) and then went out for dinner. Ironically we went to a Vietnamese restaurant that was really nice.(probably better than the food in Vietnam) It was raining pretty heavy again but we both really wanted to see the Patronas Towers so we took the monorail and walked in the rain. The Patronas Towers are the two towers joined by a bridge and until recently were the world tallest skyscrapers. They look great at night and have lots of shops under them. We copped out and caught a taxi back to our hotel because it cost the same as the monorail and we didn't have to walk in the rain!
