Where I stayed
I didn't get much sleep last night as the chap in the other bed was a terrible snoorer and I had to shake his bed a few times. I have been fortunate that this is the first time on this trip that I have this problem.
I have decided to go to see some wildlife on a 3 day, 2 night tour with a company that has some huts a few hours bus ride from here. Uncle Tan is the organisation and is named after the Malayan who founded it. They tell me the accommodation is very basic and many people have not enjoyed it. I am hoping that after staying in the Amazon jungle I shall be able to cope with this for three days.
Tomorriw is going to be a bit of an adventure as I have to ask the bus driver to drop me off at a point on the road and I have to walk to the camp from there. In the meantime in the evening I walked to the seafront and as is usual in these towns the car parks are transformed into eating establishments at night. The have mobile stalls all decked with lights and fires and its possible to buy all sorts of things. i cannot resist fish and found a stall selling bbq fish and bought something that was quite a reasonable size. I had no idea what it was but it was delicious.
After theexperiences of my trip from Miri by bus I decided to book the return trip with Air Asia. It cost 17 pounds and only a couple of pounds more that the bus. Air Asia prices are coming down and I shall leave it for a while before booking the flight to Sri Lanka.
I have the date of the Chinese New Year and will try and book a room in George Town where some say the celebrations are particularly good but the trouble is that the date is only a couple of days before I fly back to the UK so I am not sure if it will work out. That is months away and I have to concentrate on the next few days.
